NVRF2024 Announcement
We are delighted to announce that the 2024 Nene Valley Rock Festival will take place at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire between Thursday 5th and Sunday 8th September. Our full not to be missed line-up will be announced over the coming weeks and 4-day tickets and camping are now on sale. We can’t wait to see you there!
Bands confirmed so far - many more to come
We are in the early stages of talking with numerous bands in the classic rock, prog and blues vein that NVRF represents. We can't book them all and not everyone will be available! As yet we can't tell you who is playing on which day, or on which stage, or at what time. However in alphabetical order, here are those currently confirmed, and they comprise bands that played at NVRF 2023 and bands that did not, many you'll be familiar with and some you might not but will wish you had discovered sooner!
Autumn Killers ~ Azure ~ Big Wolf Band ~ Chris Bevington Organisation ~ Credo ~ Ebb ~ Genius The Fool ~ Ghost Of The Machine ~ Greyfox Conspiracy ~ Hand Of Dimes ~ Last Flight To Pluto ~ McHale's Permanent Brew ~ Mother Black Cap ~ Pearl Handled Revolver ~ Roadhouse ~ Predatür ~ Rhabstallion ~ Shaw's Trailer Park ~ Solstice ~ Son Of Man ~ Spriggan Mist ~ Square Wild ~ The Mighty Ra ~ The Room ~ The Tirith ~ Treebeard
Grimsthorpe Castle
Wherever we chose, we knew we could never satisfy everyone but after an extensive search of over 300 possible sites, NVRF 2024 will be held in the grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle, between Peterborough and Grantham.
The history of Grimsthorpe Castle goes back to the 13th century but much of what you see now was designed by John Vanbrugh, who was the architect also responsible for Castle Howard, Blenheim Palace and many other national landmarks. The grounds were landscaped by Capability Brown, who was also responsible for Longleat, Highclere, Blenheim and other locations. We’ve always said we wanted NVRF to be more than a “festival in a field” and we believe we’ve kept that promise! The owners of this beautiful property and estate have very kindly allowed us to use their grounds for both the festival and camping areas. We have included a few pictures to hopefully give you an idea of what to expect, but please also go to the castle's website for more information about the castle and its grounds.
Camping and accommodation
There is more than enough camping space for those that wish to use it, within the same field as the music arena, and a number of hotels, inns, B&Bs and AirB&Bs are within a short drive. We have also had preliminary talks with local taxi firms, who are able to provide shuttle services to and from local accommodation. We will provide more details about this in due course.
Ticket prices
Inevitably our costs have risen. You will also be aware that many events have been cancelled due to cost increases but we kept our promise to run NVRF 2023. We have tried to keep our costs as low as possible, while still bringing you a quality festival. Full 4-day "Earlybird" tickets are now on sale from this website. Please remember though, NVRF is run on an entirely not for profit basis. No one running the event takes any payment at all and the festival is planned, prepared and operated entirely by volunteers. However, we are very aware that it was clear to everyone who attended this year that more attendees are essential to make the festival viable. Everyone who passed comments back to us said they’d be back, so when tickets go on sale we need you not only to book yours as soon as you can but also encourage someone else to do so too.
Will it be like NVRF 2023?
We intend to keep close to the same format that you told us worked really well (there will be a few tweaks!) with two alternating main stages in our main marquee and we’re already in discussions with the same PA company that provided the amazing sound you were so complimentary about. We are also taking active steps to increase the range of food stalls.
Questions?
Please feel free to ask your questions via the website or Facebook– we will answer honestly as we always have done. And we hope that you will be able to join us for a hugely memorable occasion
(will be limited to 1,000)

Music
We are in the process of signing up many exciting names! There will be announcements on Facebook and more details on this website:
-
classic rock, blues rock and progressive rock
-
bands you'll almost certainly know and others you'll wish you had discovered sooner
-
some local, many from around the UK and some from overseas.
-
two main stages that will alternate so you can see all of those bands
-
another stage that will offer something different so there is always a choice.
To give you an idea, you can see last year's full line-up here: NVRF23 Line-up
Location
The 2024 event will be held at the stunning grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle, near Bourne. We know how much you appreciated our endeavours to take the festival standard up a notch or two and we're sure that next year you'll be just as impressed with the new venue, but also the great sound quality we gave you in 2023. We still intend to have:
-
a dedicated NVRF camp site close to the music arena for tents, motorhomes and caravans, that is priced per pitch, not per person
-
hotels reasonably nearby for those not wanting to camp
-
day parking
-
peaceful family-friendly surroundings
-
reasonable access to major roads
-
decent facilities such as "luxury loos" etc.

Tickets
All of our tickets will be available direct from this website, just like any other festival or gig. Book your tickets here
Arena
Your comfort matters!
-
all stages and their audience will again be housed within fully covered marquees
-
"luxury loos"! Not those horrible blue cubicles; we've booked the sort of toilets you get at weddings. It costs us more but we know it matters to you!
-
open sides, weather permitting, so you can sit in the sun if you wish
-
space to bring your own camping chairs into the arena within a designated area subject to appropriate conditions, including H&S rules. This is offered at your own risk.
-
real-ale bar (other drinks will also be available!) and food concessions operating within the arena
-
additional benches for your use
-
just a short walk from the camp site to the music arena.

Mission
We are all music lovers. The festival is all about the music and its fans - you! We aim to:
-
provide opportunities to some amazing bands that the bigger, established festivals won't touch because they have yet "made it" so won't make money for them
-
support the iconic bands from earlier years who now struggle to get gigs, many of whom are now cited as influences
-
cover the costs of the festival but the festival is run 'not-for-profit'. The organisers will not take any wages, salary or even expenses. If there is any profit it will stay in the festival and will go towards the following year.
